Flea Allergy Dermatitis

Flea allergy dermatitis is one of the most common allergies found in dogs.   This allergy is caused by flea bites more specifically flea saliva.  Some clinical signs seen as a result of flea allergy dermatitis include extreme itchiness, hot spots (staph Pyoderma), open oozing soars over body, excessive itching, scratching, chewing, biting.  It is important to note that it may take a couple to a few fleas to cause this allergic reaction.  It might be difficult to identify fleas on affected pets.  It is there for important to place your pet on a monthly regiment of flea medication.  ARCH Mobile Veterinary Services highly recommends monthly chewable confortis tablets for dogs and spot on advantage for cats.  Please contact ARCH VET Staff with any questions.
